WEST VALLEY COMMUNITY SERVICES
West Valley Community Services (WVCS) is a non-profit, community-based agency that has been providing direct assistance and referral services to the west valley communities of our county for over 40 years. Founded in 1973, WVCS provides a continuum of basic needs, family support services and housing services including: information and referrals, food pantry, transitional housing, affordable housing, financial assistance, family support and case management services. WVCS serves the communities of Saratoga, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, West San Jose and the surrounding mountain regions. WVCS is located at 10104 Vista Drive, Cupertino, CA 95014, off of Stevens Creek Boulevard near De Anza Boulevard. Their telephone number is 408-255-8033,and their website is http://www.wvcommunityservices.org/.
Sacred Heart doesn’t have an organized program of volunteering at WVCS. However, you and your family can volunteer as individuals. Volunteer opportunities include sorting food and serving clients in our food pantry, and helping to check-in clients at our front desk.
The first step in volunteering is attending a volunteer orientation to learn about WVCS programs and services, volunteer opportunities, and fill out a volunteer application that will help schedule a shift with you. No appointments are needed to come to the orientation.*
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and must enjoy working with all types of people. They must show a genuine concern for our organization, a willingness to work hard, get dirty, and help wherever needed. The ideal volunteer is self‐motivated, mature, friendly, dependable, a team player and reliable.
Volunteers who are 16 or 17 years old will need a Parent Consent form signed by their parent/guardian, but will not need to volunteer with a parent.
*Orientations are held at the WVCS office on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM, and the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 10:00 AM
