Sacred Heart Community Service
Providing essential services to individuals and families in need remains one of Sacred Heart’s core strategies. The organization has also evolved into a respected and innovative provider of programs that assist families with achieving lifelong economic self-sufficiency.
WHAT SACRED HEART COMMUNITY SERVICES DOES
Sacred Heart Community Service is dedicated to bringing our community together to address poverty in Silicon Valley. Our mission is to build a community free from poverty by creating hope, opportunity, and action. We provide essential services, work together to improve our lives, advocate for justice, and inspire our community to love, serve, and share.
Our Parish helps SHCS in many ways:
- One trip a month by our volunteers (Currently suspended due to COVID-19)
- Monthly clothing collection at our Church on the third Sunday (Currently suspended due to COVID-19)
- Quarterly money collection
- Turkey drives at Thanksgiving and Christmas
- Sacred Heart School children prepare 200 Food Bags each month for day workers
- Christmas Giving Tree
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Parishioners go to SHCS as a group once a month on the second Monday at 9am to noon. We meet at the Sacred Heart Parking lot at 8:30am to car pool and we return 30 minutes after working. This is a great way to act as a Christian and experience the instant reward of helping others. All parishioners and friends are encouraged to join us. You can also volunteer as an individual, and go to SHCS at a time that is most convenient to you; see their website at http://sacredheartcs.org/volunteer/. To volunteer, you first have to complete a volunteer application form at publicaccess.shcs.netqnet.com.
